Announce regarding Chemist Season update

Registered date : 2022.06.02 Heading:Patch Notes

Commanders!

We understand that there have been many known (and unknown) issues that have been discovered since the latest Chemist Season update.

We'd like to start by apologizing for all the inconvenience that these errors and bugs have caused everyone.

Several fixes are in the works to address these issues one by one. Separate notices with more details will follow.

In order to alleviate the inconvenience caused by frequent maintenances, we plan to apply these hotfixes without the need for additional maintenance (when possible).

Next, we'd like to talk a little about the Chemist.
We've been working on trying to resolve the negative gaming experience of Legendary units being a bit too powerful. That being said, we expected the Chemist to be released as a situational Unit and not a Unit that dominated the game. We believed that the Chemist would be a healthy addition to the roster of Units available in Guns Up! Mobile overall.

During internal playtesting of the Chemist, we found that the Chemist underperformed and was not able to fulfill its role. We thought it would be best to make the appropriate changes based on these results, and that's how it ended up where it is right now. The way it was released in the current state of balancing with other Units, undermined the value of their current units. We deeply apologize for failing to convey our balancing plans to you.

We would also like to address concerns surrounding changes that were not properly communicated through patch notes. Overall we believed that it was necessary to lessen the skill gap in higher-level gameplay. Through our data and observations, we noted that there has been a trend where many players will reach higher levels but struggle to play as they are repeatedly unable to defeat opponents the higher they get. Following this we tried to lower this hurdle by reducing the gap prevalent at these levels, and expected that there would be some players who would end up disappointed as they played to raise their levels and gain more power - we didn't think this would be a huge issue to have in order to address the initial problem.

We'd like to outline some steps we will take in order to address the above issues.
We understand it may seem unfair to reduce relative advantages based on level, but we'd like to ask for your understanding of some of the balance changes we believe would be necessary and good in the long term experience.
- After this point, we will try to minimize cases where sudden large-scale changes happen. We will also improve our communication ahead of time to players.
- We will continue to monitor and actively buff Units that may feel a little too weak. We expect that higher rarity Units would have moderately higher win rates, and we don't want to deviate too much from that.
- When sharing information with our players, we will try to improve on parts that might be harder to understand, or not as clear. We'd like to minimize the chances of misinformation and confusion as much as possible.

Additionally, we are also currently working on hotfixes to address other major issues right now since the update (such as incorrectly displayed Gems, purchase-related issues, error 53 issues, and more). We again apologize deeply for the inconveniences and frustrations this latest update brought, and thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to improve the game experience for everyone.

Thank you for playing!
